“Goede uitvalsbasis en hartelijke ontvangst”

The resort’s manager was extremely friendly and helpful, making communication a breeze; he sorted tuk‑tuk rides, a UNESCO‑site visit and our transfer to Negombo without any hassle. Upon arrival we were offered a fresh juice and the morning breakfast was tasty and well presented. Overall, Thinaya Lake Resort offers good value for money and is definitely worth recommending. The only downside was that, of the two rooms we booked for one night, one was not as clean as we expected.

The room comfortably fits four people, with a simple yet functional bathroom. The pool is small but very pleasant, and the staff are attentive while the food is excellent. The property sits about a hundred metres from the lake, making it perfect for watching the sunset.

“Espantoso”

I feel bad because the men who handled us tried to be friendly, but we were not comfortable. It is VERY dirty: hair under the pillow, hair in the shower, stains on the sheets and walls, mosquitoes in the room, a horrible mattress that sinks into you…the mirrors were full of grime…we chose the place because we were traveling with kids and the pool was full of monkeys…in short, a disaster.
