“Excellent, traditional Japanese guest house with English-speaking owners.”

The guest house sits in a residential area of Miyaji. The room is large, clean, and comes with plenty of futons. It’s a typical old‑style Japanese house, featuring a tokonoma alcove and a bathroom with a deep Japanese‑style bath. The owners are very friendly and speak excellent English. There is a shared kitchen, and Miyaji has restaurants and convenience stores so you can buy food and cook yourself. The only issue was some confusion about the difference between foreign Japanese residents (who only need to provide their address) and foreign tourists (who need to show their passports).

“乾淨、舒服、有車位、價格不高”

The host lady keeps everything spotless (she speaks fluent Chinese), the public spaces in the room are immaculate, the building is pure Japanese style, the corridor floor is clean and shiny, and she even supplies free local Aso hot spring water and parking. When we left, she came out to wave goodbye, showing a lot of warmth. No negatives.

“Nice value for money location”

The place offers good value, is clean, the staff are very friendly, and the house is a traditional Japanese tatami style.

“Wonderful authentic stay in Aso”

We had a fantastic stay with the hosts, and the laundry facilities were a real bonus. I used the kitchen only for breakfast and finished my evenings at the nearby Joyful cafe. Nothing else to complain about.
