The location was perfect, close to the front and with good bus connections if needed, and Pete the owner was very friendly and accommodating. I didn’t find many dislikes; given the price I expected modest standards but was pleasantly surprised.

Hot water for the shower every time, clean towels, soap, and other necessities provided. The Wi‑Fi was great and the bedding clean. Peter was brilliant. The spot is two minutes from St Chad’s tram stop and there’s plenty of a brew kit to use whenever you want. It’s a budget place, so expect what you’re paying for; it all depends on what your trip needs. My stay was mainly for beach fun, no special event, just a getaway. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe—a big deal for me—and I knew Peter would be around if needed. The mattress was a bit worn and there were a few minor issues, but knowing it’s a budget spot, the hot water, shower, Peter, brew kit, and clean bedding make it a recommendation.

We walked in and walked out—everything was disgusting, stank, and dirty. The beds were stained, and there was black mould in the windows and bathroom. All of it.
