Scam alert. The “room only” option is false; the manager will make you pay for the safari or cancel your room. We booked the room only option and upon arrival the manager told us that if we didn’t book the safari through him, he would cancel our rooms and we’d have to find other accommodation. At half‑nine at night, two girls were told they would be kicked out if they didn’t comply, which was very threatening and made us feel very uncomfortable. (Also no towel in one room, no sheet in the other, and no WiFi, but the forced safari overrode those small issues.)

Rats and mice were everywhere, one even gnawed through my watch strap while I slept; my watch had been left in the bedside locker. They also chewed holes in two pieces of clothing, which made me feel sick thinking they were around us during the night. The staff didn’t seem surprised by the situation and I wasn’t happy with how they handled it. They immediately cancelled my booking to prevent me from writing a review, but eventually sorted the problem out.

“A peaceful escape surrounded by nature!”

I had a wonderful stay at Residence Inn Udawalawe! The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The swimming pool was lovely and perfect for relaxing. Highly recommended for a peaceful stay! 🌿🏊‍♂️

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and the peaceful surroundings made the stay even better. It’s also a great place to stay when visiting Udawalawe National Park. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Unforgettable Oasis in Udawalawe!”

Our stay at Residence Inn Udawalawe was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable the staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. The food was another highlight, with delicious, authentic flavors that made every meal a real treat. But the true star of the show is the setting. The unique and cozy A-frame rooms offer the perfect blend of comfort and style, creating a memorable home away from home. Step out onto the room’s balcony and you’re greeted by a breathtaking view of the sparkling blue swimming pool, beautifully framed by a lush and tranquil jungle of coconut trees. It truly feels like a little paradise. We highly recommend Residence Inn Udawalawe to anyone visiting Udawalawe. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to return!
