The staff were extremely attentive, always ready to help – they topped up our account, exchanged money, gave us a rope to hang laundry on the balcony, pointed out where to rent a scooter and where the market was, and let us use the fridge and freezer at the reception. Breakfast, however, was very plain, boring and overly spicy for anyone who dislikes heat. We saw cockroaches on both the first and last day, and a swarm of tiny ants later crawled over us, especially at night. Cats on the second floor roamed loudly, and the nearby café played loud music in the evenings, which we asked to be turned down but it still disturbed sleep. Without air‑conditioning it was stifling and humid. The bedding was synthetic, making the room feel hotter and leaving me constantly sweaty, forcing frequent showers to freshen up. They charged us a bit more than the booking stated. Overall the holiday felt only about 50 % satisfactory.
