“Ein wunderschönes, persönliches Resort direkt am Mekong, bei dem vor allem die herzlichen Menschen, die besondere Atmosp”
We spent seven nights at On The Mekong Resort and felt rarely in a place that welcomed us so personally. That was mainly thanks to Henry, Nee, and the whole team. Henry greeted us personally, was available for conversation throughout our stay, and even took us to the train station at the end. Nee, the General Manager, was incredibly helpful, assisting us with trip planning and train tickets. Even with our two little kids, the stay was great; the whole team was warm, engaged, and responsive to their needs. The kids quickly felt at home. Communication was smooth; most staff speak good English. We were especially impressed by the social concept behind the resort: Henry explained that he hires young people from remote Laos, giving them a job, salary, lodging, and meals. After a week and meeting many team members, that background felt even more meaningful. The property itself is special: rooms are spread across traditional Lao wooden houses that have been rebuilt here. Together with the large, well‑maintained green garden, it feels more like a small village than a classic resort. There are plenty of cozy spots to sit and relax, and despite being close to Luang Prabang, it’s wonderfully quiet. The resort sits directly on the Mekong, and the breakfast area is right by the river—morning there is a great atmosphere. The only issue was a faint drain smell a few times.
