The rural setting was lovely with splendid views and scenery, the rooms were large and offered superb vistas, and overall it was perfect.

The place was clean and comfortable, with freshly laid carpet, no heat pump but an oil heater that worked, and the view was gorgeous—waking up to fields, a few cows, and some sheep felt soul‑fulfilling. I couldn’t get the Wi‑Fi; the network name didn’t appear, and the one that did (thegreenroom) rejected all passwords I tried. I emailed but didn’t receive a reply. Since I only stayed one night, it was acceptable because I had data, but a longer stay would have been frustrating, especially in a rural area like Mangawhai where data can be spotty. The shower rail detached from the wall when I hung a towel; the wall and rail were fine, but the screw didn’t hold the bracket. The entrance was a bit confusing; GPS directed me next door where there were no numbers on the mailbox, so a small sign on the mailbox pointing to the property would help.
