The staff and room were great. The only issue was that there wasn’t full blackout, so morning light was a bit annoying.

The only thing that was clean was the room itself; everything else was a disappointment. We were hit with an extra city accommodation tax that wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the booking details we saw, and any mandatory extra fees should be spelled out before you book. The place felt more like a motel than a hotel, especially for the price we paid. Its location was a hassle for sightseeing and shopping, with a longer walk to the train station than we’d hoped. We stayed at four different hotels on this trip to Japan, and this was the most expensive and least liked. In short, it didn’t deliver good value and I’d pick somewhere else next time.

The rain shower was a plus. However, there wasn’t enough hanging space for clothes, the bed wasn’t comfortable, and the pillows were too small.

The hotel was charming. Breakfast was very complete and good.
