The hot spring was free-flowing and the water quality was good, so you could soak as much as you wanted. Breakfast came in a British BB style, and there was a coin laundry. The town is a bit far away and hard to reach without a car. The dormitory rooms could use curtains.

I was quite disappointed with the sleeping arrangement. I booked three dormitory beds and, based on the photos, assumed we would be staying in a dormitory room with bunk beds. However, upon arrival, we were shown to a large open room with around 20 futons placed directly on the floor, with other guests sleeping in the same space. It was a quite a shock and honestly reminded me of a temporary covid dormitory in China. I did not see any photos of this type of room when booking. If I had known this was the actual arrangement, I would not have chosen this accommodation. The futon was extremely thin, which caused back pain and made it very difficult to sleep. There was also no space to properly open a suitcase, so I had to get my clothes from the car, which unfortunately contributed to me losing a piece of clothing.

The price was extremely reasonable. I would have liked a curtain-like divider around the bed.

It was more than worth it because they provide a free shuttle from Takayama station to the hostel every half hour, which is plenty for the price. In some cases, taking public transport in the morning was also good so we could enjoy the village vibe during the 15‑20 minutes. The onsen could have been a bit cheaper; it cost me around 900 yen, which was not included in the booking cost.

Only the receptionist was helpful. The space between the beds was dirty, with old trash, almost no space between each bed, and no tattoo allowed as told before arrival. Many people were unhappy with the situation, and there weren’t enough chargers for each person.
