“Unser Aufenthalt war ein ganz besonderes und unvergessliches Erlebnis, geprägt vom einzigartigen Charme des historischen”
The Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel impresses with an incredibly unique atmosphere and distinctive flair shaped by the fascinating history of the historic ship. It’s a very special vacation that hardly compares to the classic resorts and club facilities you usually find in Bintan. The charm of the original cabins gives the feeling of actually experiencing a piece of maritime history. We especially want to highlight the exceptionally friendly and warm staff, who made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The beautiful pool with its special atmosphere also delighted us and made our stay on this extraordinary ship perfect. Those who expect classic five‑star luxury without any flaws might not be entirely correct here. As mentioned, the hotel or ship has a long history, and that includes some areas that are visibly aged and show rust spots. For us personally, this was part of the special charm and further emphasized the extraordinary atmosphere of the historic ship. We are aware that other guests might perceive this differently and consider it a drawback.
“Bien”
The building has its charm, though it does feel a bit dated.
The rooms were nice and clean, but to my understanding the hotel is going to be refurbished again to make it nicer. There was no clear indication of what can be brought to the hotel; only indications in the room. The hotel management should have put up signage in the lobby area so that others can know, and the staff should remind the guest so that the guest is aware.
“Unique hotel with more potential”
The staff were friendly and helpful, and we took the ship tour, which was interesting and worth doing if you stay. The pool is nice and a great spot to watch the sunset, and the room was really nice. It's a unique hotel that has a lot more potential, but they don’t have watersports and the pool bar is closed. Air conditioning didn’t work properly all stay and we couldn’t change rooms because it was fully booked. The hotel is starting to look dated with furniture and dirty areas around it, food wasn’t great (expensive for the quality) and breakfast options are limited. The gym is tiny, and there is nothing to do at the hotel itself, so make sure you plan excursions or other things to do.
Not common. Food is average
