The location by the lake is fantastic, and the rooms have a beautiful traditional style with great views. The onsen, staff, breakfast, and set dinner are all amazing. The only drawback is the Wi‑Fi speed/coverage in the room, which isn’t great. I liked the room‑service and the automatic drink station in the lounge, but if you want a fully staffed bar, that’s not available.

A very nice house—staying in such a traditional ryokan is a must‑do in Japan. The kaiseki dinner was delicious and special. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a regular shuttle to the bus station with posted times. The onsen area was beautiful, and the breakfast buffet was well organized. The only issue was that the small chairs for dinner made it hard to sit, especially for untrained Europeans, since everything takes place on tatami mats. We knew this beforehand and still wanted to try it, but it’s worth keeping in mind.

Everything was perfect: the kaiseki dinner was a unique experience, the onsen was very clean, and the breakfast buffet was well supplied. The staff were extremely kind. If you’re looking for a ryokan style experience without sacrificing hotel comforts, this is the place. We didn’t find a single flaw. We rate the property against Western standards, but a Japanese guest would probably give it a perfect score too.
