The location was good and the staff were friendly, but the rooms feel stuck in the early 2000s. The overall rating is 3 out of 5 stars. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the small vending machine next to the reception lets you make free coffee drinks (Café Latte, Espresso), hot chocolate, or Thai Tea. The mattress was comfortable and the TV in the room was modern and good. Access to the rooftop pool at the neighboring Oakwood Hotel is a plus, although the Journeyhub itself also has a small pool next to the lobby. In short, the hotel is simply too expensive for the current, worn‑out condition of the rooms. The location and team are good, but the room comfort urgently needs improvement. The negative points (why only 3 stars) are obvious: you can feel the hotel’s history (built in 1999 as St. James Hotel and renamed Journeyhub in 2025). Unfortunately the rooms apparently weren’t modernised when the takeover happened. The décor feels very dated, early 2000s style. The wooden furniture clearly shows the passage of years. A major issue is the air‑conditioning, which needs urgent maintenance: as soon as you set the temperature below 23 °C, the cooling coil freezes, indicating a refrigerant shortage, and the condensate isn’t drained properly. The bathroom is also heavily aged. The bathtub had such severe scaling that the enamel was peeling and it was already rusting. The bathroom door had already swollen from the moisture. The lighting in the bathroom is very cheap and dim – simple LED panels in the drop‑down ceiling could have created a much friendlier atmosphere. Another annoyance: during our stay the toilet pipe clogged four times – not our fault. The staff cleared it quickly each time, but it still leaves a bad impression.
