We stayed at Hotel Junior Mint for a week while skiing in Hakuba and I would highly recommend it. Jon, the manager/owner, is incredibly helpful, friendly and full of local tips and knowledge! He provided transfers to and from the train station and helped us organise lift passes, which we really appreciated as first‑time visitors to Hakuba. The room had great storage space and a private bathroom with constant hot water and good water pressure. We found the beds really comfortable and warm. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the ski rental shop and Goryu base, ski lifts and buses to the other resorts. The breakfast served every morning was filling and the staff were able to organise vegan options. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. There’s great restaurants and bars within walking distance serving meat and vegan options and 7/11 is about a 20 minute walk away. This was our first time skiing in Japan and we had no idea where to stay or what to expect, couldn’t have had a better experience at Hotel Junior Mint. The hotel is a short taxi to the Echoland area, though we far preferred the vibe in the area around the hotel. Thanks to Jon and team for a great stay! Already looking forward to the next one.
“Great hospitality and accommdation”
Close proximity to Escal plaza, attentive staff and good service. The owner can offer free pick‑up and drop‑off service to the train/bus station. The bathroom is a bit small and the dryer room may need a better dryer for snow equipment.
“Lovely hotel near ski lifts that feels like home”
The staff were genuinely friendly throughout our visit.
“Great stay, short walking distance to Goryu. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable”
Everything was great. The staff was super friendly. The breakfast was great. We also really liked that we can go to the sister hotel (2 min walk, right across) to enjoy the onsen. The pictures of the room match exactly, there weren’t any camera tricks used. The room was clean and comfortable. If you’re here for skiing, it’s a short distance to Goryu. The staff also drove us to the bus terminal for us to catch a bus back to Nagano Station for free. Nothing in particular.
“Felt like a home away from home!”
The place was clean and well kept, and I liked how they made it feel like home, especially with staff offering breakfast every morning. Nothing was missing; everything matched my expectations.
