“Lage Top! Preis/Leistung schlecht! Hotel sehr abgenutzt. Vogelplage!”
The setting on the beautiful Nordstrand of Mujeres is lovely, yet the value for money at Hotel Mia Reef is off; we stayed in a small double bed room in the main building, and when we asked for an upgrade to a two-bed room, the response was reluctant and ultimately no such room was available during our stay. Only a 'Villa' was still an option, but it cost an extra $140 per night. The food was okay with limited variety, and the à la carte restaurants are popular, requiring early booking upon arrival or else you get no seat. That dining option was better. The hotel is plagued by a bird infestation, with droppings everywhere that were not cleaned, which is disgusting. The pool bar lacks a drink menu and serves beverages in plastic cups; it's fine by the pool but otherwise unsatisfactory. The entire property urgently needs refurbishment, both inside and out. The wooden loungers and their covers are old, often covered in bird droppings and unclean, making them nearly unusable without a towel. The hotel has long since lost its former glory, and we would not book it again.
