“Lovely views, unique location, noisy and very over-priced”
The breakfast had to be moved indoors because of screeching seagulls, there was only one waitress, so if you’re in a hurry it could be a problem. No breakfast tea was offered, and the service order was odd: bread and jams first, then cooked dishes, then cereal and yogurt. The restaurant room was lovely with river views, and we enjoyed the quiet morning scenery near Dom Luis bridge; we even rented bikes and rode to Foz. We arrived to a locked door with no one present, searched for reception, dragged our suitcase up and down the stairs, and after a long ring someone finally opened the door—an unpleasant start. Before arrival the hotel advertised an airport transfer with no price, phrased as if complimentary, but it actually cost 50 euros; we cancelled and found a taxi at the rank 2 minutes away for 25 euros, which was disappointing. The hotel sits on the corner of Ribeiro Square, so there is a lot of noise and singing that can be heard even on the 6th floor, yet you’re right in the middle of it all and right on the river.
