Peru Hostel Tajmani

It was an extraordinary experience. The beds were very comfortable, and even though it was a shared room, there was a lot of privacy. While I was staying, they were painting and fixing the facilities, but that didn’t reduce the comfort or peace at Hostal Tajmani. Definitely a place that meets lodging expectations. The staff was super friendly, courteous, and helpful. Recommended! The only downside was arriving during the renovations, and I think the shower method should be improved to avoid wetting the room after showering.

The room was fairly large but very dirty; the shower was in a separate cabin with no light and a ceiling full of mold that left a strong smell, and we arrived early in Arequipa, found our luggage in a room still occupied by an older man, which felt odd; with limited Spanish and no English from the staff, we chose another hotel and couldn’t review this one further, though later someone apologized and asked for feedback.

The hostel is excellent, just a short walk from Plaza de Armas and surrounded by top restaurants and shops; the staff are fantastic, there are private and family rooms in addition to shared ones, and the rooftop offers stunning volcano views, making it great value in Arequipa.

“The most fun hostel I’ve stayed in!”

The hostel is super fun, staff are great, and the location is excellent; breakfast was only bread and jam, which is reasonable for the price, and tea is available all day with unlimited filtered water for 5 Sol; however, the place needs a thorough clean and the showers are cold.

“My favourite hostal on Peru… so far!!”

Josue and Andrew were outstanding, eager to help make the stay brilliant; the location is central, close to the market and main square, and the hostel is lively with a skate park, roof terrace, music room, etc.; breakfast was just bread rolls and jam, which was fine for me, and Andrew recommended a fully vegan spot with a daily menu that was cheap, delicious, and vegan; there were also many activities like cooking classes, Spanish lessons, and tours, so I would have stayed longer if possible; the resident dog Skate was a highlight. On the downside, the place wasn’t clean, showers were grim, and I never got a hot shower during my stay.
