“Gebucht was schönes, bekommen ein uraltes dreckiges verschimmeltes Loch”
I booked a double room with a balcony at B&B San Francesco about six months ago. The check‑in was self‑service, and I settled into my beautiful booked room. Thirty minutes later, the host Marcello appeared and admitted he’d made a big mistake, promising three rooms in the same house to a French family. He knew I was in the room I’d booked, but to save his life (Italian temperament), he wanted me to move into a much bigger room with a perfect view. He was pressed for time because he was heading to a festival. He told me a heart‑wrenching story with Italian charm, and I agreed to move to help the French family. That turned out to be one of my biggest mistakes. The offered apartment was large with a better view, but it was filthy, rusty, had mold on the walls, everything was cardboard‑like, as if Marcello had thrown his 100‑year‑old great‑grandmother out of the apartment to accommodate the French family. I was disgusted. Even the kettle was rusty, the microwave didn’t work, dirty dishes were left there… a nightmare. The lift led straight into the apartment, but I didn’t have a key to control direct access, so anyone who wanted could enter.
