Apulia Hotel Taranto Ara Solis

The hotel is very remote, not far from the harbor area. Restaurants and shops are 5 to 10 km away, so you’ll need a car. The breakfast staff did not attend to guests at all, the buffet was never restocked, tables were not cleared, and everything was very messy.

The location was fine, but the breakfast and dinner were a disaster; the food didn’t match the price at all. We would never eat there again. The dessert fruit plate had a nectarine and a hard orange—just bland and overpriced.

The pool was nice with loungers and towels available, and you could walk from the hotel terrace to the beach. Parking was free. Dogs and cats were around the pool, and the sea access could use better stairs. On our balcony there was a cigarette case full of stubs and a beer bottle. The pool area had cigarette cases everywhere, and the staff smoked constantly. At the restaurant you couldn’t order à la carte; a menu was forced on us without prior notice. For bar service we always had to ask reception to be served.

“Poor”

The staff were very nice. The room wasn’t clean, the balcony had a window, the room felt like a prison cell with broken furniture, and the bath was dirty.

“Kein Urlaubsziel”

Acceptable for a layover or bus tour, but far too expensive. The price‑performance is not justified at all. A four‑star hotel is completely overrated. The room was a catastrophe: a simple metal frame bed with a mattress, a very moldy shower, balcony doors that fell off their hinges on both sides, cigarette butts in the door frame, and a view of a container terminal with lots of wind turbines and their noise. No beach access. The hotel was very Spartan. The size of the property was not used well in any way. Absolutely not recommended for vacation. Local bus tours. The dinner and breakfast were catastrophic. The plaster on the outer walls is falling off.
