“Don't bother, get an independent hotel if you want good service”
The room was spacious and clean, but for a global brand it fell short: the restaurant only offered rice or pasta, and we were told that, yet it was closed at 8 pm when we arrived; the bar was no better, we waited for someone to serve us only to find the bartender on his phone out of sight, asked for two beers and two tins arrived, then we had to ask for a glass, two cardboard coffee cups came, then two coffee mugs, and finally we ended up with beers in a wine glass. When we asked reception to book a taxi for the morning, they said it was fine, but nothing was booked, so I had to arrange it myself. For an international brand, this was disappointing; in the four weeks we spent in China, it was the most expensive, and we received far better service from smaller independent hotels at a fraction of the price.
