The Study at the University of Chicago offers sleek, air‑conditioned rooms with private baths, work desks, free toiletries, and flat‑screen TVs. Guests enjoy a fitness center, on‑site restaurant serving American cuisine, champagne breakfasts, and a bar. The hotel sits in a great spot with a nice view, but the beds are full‑size and feel cramped for adults. I also couldn’t find the ice machine on the 11th floor.

The location is handy for the Obama Presidential Center and the Chicago Half Marathon, and the vibe of the place is relaxed. However, housekeeping was almost non‑existent. We stayed four nights: the first night and day were fine and the room was cleaned after we returned from the day. The next two days, no one came to clean the room at all. We even asked for a cleaning the following day, but when we left early for the half marathon and came back around noon, there was still no service. We went out for brunch and a quick tour, and when we returned at about 3:30, the room was still untouched. It was unbelievable, especially paying $500+ per night. Another guest had asked if our room was clean and was also disappointed.

Everything was perfect: stunning views, a lovely room, delicious food at the restaurant, and excellent service. The location is ideal for UChicago, and the lobby offered free food and coffee all day. Truly top notch.

My main purpose for the trip was to fulfill a bucket list wish for my husband to see the Obama presidential center…. This hotel is in a perfect position for that. I also enjoyed the view from the window of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. Overpriced for such a bland room. No micro no fridge- just a bed tv and chair. When I got there, I was told a different prize than the price with . Also, the manager that was on duty was very carefree with assisting me. He wasn’t nice. He wasn’t smiling. It was not a very inviting warm social scene. He made me feel less than when I asked if I could make a split payment because the price wasn’t the amount I was told .- also the restaurant downstairs is very expensive… I’m from Texas and we are very friendly people and we are very budget friendly people so obviously I felt out of place because this was way above my pay scale. …. And that’s on me
