“Ein bisschen Luxus in absolut ruhiger Lage”
The Enigma was the neighborhood highlight of our week‑long Portugal trip. We arrived during a quiet season, the hotel was relatively empty – and because we came with a child and asked for an extra bed, we were silently upgraded to a better room for free. We had booked a double room, but were given a small suite. The room was wonderful, very spacious, with a small indoor garden, comfortable large beds, and a freestanding bathtub by the window. Plus a huge balcony overlooking the stunning surrounding landscape. The hotel is somewhat remote, standing alone in nature – it was incredibly quiet all around. The staff were insanely friendly and helpful, providing everything from bath caps to a wine bottle opener that we needed but didn't have. Breakfast is great, the hotel parking lot is locked at night, the pools were wonderful – we were delighted overall. Absolutely recommended! Only small things: a few extra towel hooks in the bathroom would have helped, and the lighting in the main room only had “all on” or “all off” – there was accent lighting that couldn’t be controlled separately (which would have been nice for cozy evening light). Bedside reading lights would have been great. But that’s high‑level whining – we loved this neighborhood and if we’re back in the area, we’ll come again.
