“It sufficed and we were safe.”
Check‑in and check‑out were quick, but the place was plain and more expensive than any other option we had, though we had no alternatives.

Top accommodation for a stay in Seward.

The Spruce Lodge sits just outside town, about a 5‑to‑8 minute drive, so it’s quiet—though a car is essential. It’s near Exit Glacier, so hiking is easy. The Salmon Bake restaurant across the street served great food. The area is very quiet with plenty of trees, and the blackout curtains help block the 18 hours of daylight in August, making sleep easy. The windows have screens, so you can open them for fresh air without mosquitoes. There’s a large TV, though we never used it. The kitchen comes with plates, glasses, and other essentials, but you’ll need to bring napkins and paper towels. Overall, a very enjoyable stay that I’ve already recommended to others. Nothing to complain about—it was great.

The rooms are nice and modern, and the location is excellent. The staff is great. However, the place still feels under construction, lacking the full lodge amenities and atmosphere. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep, it’s fine, but it doesn’t deliver the full lodge experience.

The staff was friendly and the location is convenient, with easy access to the room via a code. The bed was terrible, as if someone had cut into the mattress under the padding. There were no bedside lamps, so we relied on four recessed ceiling lights; bedside lamps would have been better. The sliding bathroom door didn’t work well.
