Barcaldine Castle

The castle is stunningly beautiful and fully Scottish in style, and the caretaker is incredibly kind, friendly, and thorough in explaining everything. The welcome and the thoughtful touches in the room are the highlights that make the stay worthwhile. Our bathroom was huge and offered a lovely valley view from the sink, which was gorgeous. The beds were super comfortable and the room was spacious. Breakfast deserves a special mention for its quality and deliciousness. Everything was on point; don’t expect an intercontinental breakfast but you’ll get class, elegance, and great quality. A small suggestion: find a way to use the bar during the castle’s closing hours without having to make a purchase. A small glass of good whisky would have been nice in a lounge.

The place was truly one-of-a-kind, the staff were exceptional, breakfast felt like a dream, and the castle itself had a mystical vibe. I’d definitely return, whether with a friend, as a couple, or even for a big event where you can book the whole property. Five stars all the way!

“Lovely castle, wonderful staff, would like to visit again”

The staff were very friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The castle itself feels cozy and is very well maintained. The great hall captured the medieval ambiance we were hoping for.

“Delightful historical experience”

The castle is beautifully decorated and steeped in history. The staff and management are super friendly. Our host Richard is delightful and knows a lot about the property, its history, and the surrounding area. The bedroom is spacious and the breakfast is scrumptious. We’ll definitely return. I left some clothing there and it was promptly sent back to me—thank you.
