Breakfast was missing. The bathroom was outside the room. The kitchen was unusable. There was no trash collection.

The host happily added extra sheets. The room had air conditioning. We were told a fridge and kitchen access would be available, but that didn’t happen because other priority guests were using it. The room’s structure and furniture felt old. The main door to the room was hard to open and close, and the bathroom door was reversed, so it had to be opened and closed from the outside. Wi‑Fi didn’t work in our room.

“Even though it could have been worse, we were happy to leave.”

The AC worked, the nearby bus station was handy, and we had a private balcony. But we started with four flights of stairs to the apartment door, then a hallway that smelled like urine and decay, only to find a post‑mortem cockroach the size of a thumb being carried away by a swarm of ants. In the kitchen you could see last week’s trash, probably the roaches’ invitation. Our towels smelled fresh yet were oddly yellow‑stained, which was unsettling.

“Scam”

First, the owner was unfriendly at check‑in. Second, the room was totally different from what I saw: an uncomfortable bed with a mattress smaller than the bed. It was very noisy, with people fighting and screaming in the apartment. No cleaning took place. There was no balcony. None of the pictures matched the property. The air conditioner made a lot of noise, so I couldn’t sleep in peace.
