“Angoissant.”

The location is the only thing that matters. The rest was a huge letdown – everything was far from what the ad promised, like a scam: two single beds instead of a double, mold on the bathroom walls, no shower pressure, a clogged sink, stained sheets, a TV that didn’t work and no batteries in the remote, no lounge chairs by the pool and the pool itself didn’t match the pictures, the so‑called bar was filthy and a half‑filled smoothie cup stayed on the counter all our stay, and so on. We have photos and videos. In short, we were happy to leave.

I had booked a two‑week stay but had to cancel because of a visa problem; the host was responsive until I asked to cancel, after which I couldn’t get in touch. I gave them two weeks’ notice that I wouldn’t be using the booking, so a partial refund would have been fair. Make sure you read the cancellation policy before booking.

If you’re looking for an affordable spot on Phi Phi, this place could work; they have a pool and overall it’s good value. They also offer pick‑up and drop‑off from the island. The downside is that it’s on a remote island near Sai Phi Phi resort, so night‑time activities are limited and it’s very quiet after dark.
