Yoro town gives a real glimpse of Japan that most tourist spots miss. It’s remote, sparsely populated, and brimming with natural beauty. Senzairou lies deep in the mountains, and Yoro Falls is a must‑see. The staff are very helpful, and the hotel itself is a beautiful historical relic. Dinner and breakfast were interesting, unique, and generous in portion. I have only praise for this ryokan. If you want a Japanese getaway away from crowds, this is a must‑visit. The only drawback is the remote location means the staff speak little English; if you have basic Japanese and a translator, it’s fine. They do provide English menus and instructions. I don’t see this as a negative, but travelers should know the town, train, and shops are primarily for Japanese, so be prepared. Personally, I think that’s a plus!

I was blown away by everything – the staff were super friendly and the transport to and from Yoro station was fantastic. Nothing else to add!

The grounds were very relaxing and beautiful, with a lovely sitting area and a stunning view from our room; everything felt genuinely traditional Japanese and we were warmly welcomed. Dinner, breakfast, and a bottle of champagne were all excellent.

The food, focused on local, in‑season items, was both excellent and plentiful. The traditional wooden bath was a treat, and the overall vibe of this 150‑year‑old house made the experience worthwhile.
