The place was great, though it took me a minute to get used to having my private bathroom across the hall from my room—a first for me. Most nearby restaurants were closed for the August holiday, but I managed to reach a nice spot about 30 minutes away by metro on my first night. The next morning, Metro Line B1, which ran right across from Parco Delle Valli, was shut down until August 30th. I called the owner right away to say I’d be leaving around noon and not staying the last four nights, but those problems were beyond the owner’s control.
