It was not clearly stated that the room was on the third floor of a tower accessed by a very narrow spiral staircase and that the shared bathroom/wc with the owners was on the ground floor! The owner told us afterward that this detail was visible in the photos. At 75 years old, it’s not easy to go up and down three floors in the middle of the night.

The hosts were warm, the Saumur‑style room was well equipped, the bed was very comfortable, and it was quiet. Breakfast was generous. The location is ideal for visiting Saumur and for the Cadre Noir, visit and gala. No unpleasant surprises.

We chose this place partly for the Jacuzzi, but it was broken, which was a disappointment. The room is 400 m uphill from the street, so if you’re biking with kids, factor that in. The stay was still unique enough to earn a 7.0/10.
