“Poor nights sleep in an otherwise comfortable and historic hotel”
Large room with good light and enough space for a couple. Nice coffee machine. Bathroom was very large, plenty of towels and hot water. Traditional key (not digital) was appreciated. Bar area is large an in keeping with the historic theme of the hotel. Seating areas are comfortable. Could not see/find a kettle for tea. A nespresso type coffee machine was provided but unsure how tea or the also-available instant coffee could be prepared. Biggest issue was the wafer-thin mattress. Springs virtually compressed all the way. Springs could be felt easily though the material. It is a cheap, cheap, cheap mattress and therefore uncomfortable. This is a main reason for a hotel - the actual bed and sleep quality. No staff available on reception at 730am. Despite 3 rings of the "call us" bell and an 8 minute wait, no front of house staff appeared. Seemed very minimally staffed generally. Despite "drop key" checkout box, guests often have questions, requests or sometimes issues in the morning - staff need to be available to address these
