“Wallingford”
Alicia, who was handling check‑in (and probably the bar), was understanding, resourceful, and super helpful. After I got stuck with a broken bike, she made me feel welcome, pointed me toward places that could help, and gave directions to local transport so I could get back on track. The chef stayed on to cook me a meal after closing, leaving a very positive impression. The room was a bit tired, with some fixtures needing repair and no BBC channels on the TV, but overall it was a great stay.
A bolt hole for a couple of days
The place was very clean, the beds comfortable, but being over a pub and High Street means expect some noise, and the twin bed felt more like a cot—our son is 6 ft 2 in.
“Good location for Wallingford”
We booked the room for the duration of Bunkfest, a free music festival in Wallingford from Friday to Sunday. The room was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located. The pub wasn’t serving food during our stay because of the festival. The payment on arrival didn’t match our booked price since they don’t offer the Genius discount, so we had to pay £10 extra per night.
The staff were not welcoming at all; it felt like we were an inconvenience, and it was noisy from before 6 am.
