The location and staff were wonderful, and the rooms were clean and tidy—ideal for a fishing trip to lake Aluksne. However, the sound insulation was poor; if someone walked in the hallway, it felt like they were in your room. Also, the bathroom only offered cold water in the sink, which feels outdated for the 21st century.

The place is great—right by the lake—and the restaurant staff are friendly. On the downside, all the noises are audible, the bathroom has a sewage smell, and the room still has stains from previous guests.

The staff were brilliant and helpful, the location was great, and the room was comfortable, offering amazing value for money. Yet, after staying a week, no one cleaned the room or changed the towels, so with poor heating and ventilation the whole room smelled like wet towels by day’s end. The water had a distinct smell, as if not filtered, and while toiletries were listed as included, only hand soap was provided—no shampoo or shower gel.
