Mälby Säteri B&B

The dining room was very pleasant, the host was entertaining and shared the manor’s history over a good breakfast. The location by Lake Sillen, the beautiful bathhouse and the view of Temple Mountain from the beach below were impressive. The incredibly beautiful old oaks in the park north of the manor were a highlight. The award‑winning horses and dogs raised at Mälby added charm. The host pair was very nice. I wish more care had been shown for the other accommodation buildings and economic structures; unfortunately, their dilapidated state was a sad sight, as was the amount of junk and litter around the houses.

“Disappointing.”

The Säteri sits in a very beautiful, peaceful and quiet area. Because the owner was absent during our stay and no breakfast was served, we received a SEK 100 discount. The breakfast was stored in the refrigerator near the bedrooms. The bedroom itself was good, spacious, and decorated like a trip back 100 years. No extra fee was charged for our dog. However, the breakfast was downright bad. With the main building closed, it was prepared in the refrigerator of the (too) small kitchen in the annex where the bedrooms are. It consisted of a few slices of dry bread, opened and half‑used butter, a lump of cheese, and some jars of jam that had been used, were dirty, and only partially filled. There were also a few opened cartons of yogurt. The kitchenette was tiny, with almost no room to sit. The refrigerator interior was dirty. The most striking thing was that there was no coffee. A coffee machine, a kettle, and filters were present, but there was no trace of coffee at all.

Breakfast was okay. The host was also nice. The accommodation is extremely run down.

Nice beds. The toilet and shower were a bit grimy.

“Heerlijk tot rust komen aan een prachtig meer!”

What a beautiful old country house by a lake that’s just as gorgeous. It’s lovely to relax, swim, and unwind in the villa. I found the hygiene a bit lacking, with obvious dust build‑ups and sometimes not very clean.
