“Give it a miss”
I first thought the hotel was fine, and the guy at reception was decent and tried to help in Thai. The first night went okay and the place was quiet. On the second day I went down to pay and the woman at reception gave off a really bad vibe. That night the AC stopped at about 9 pm and I couldn’t reach anyone by phone; at 11:30 pm I finally got through and the man on the line said he’d come. I sent two texts about the AC and a large hornet/wasp in the room, but got no reply and no one came. The AC rebooted at 01:23 am and I didn’t sleep much. In the morning I told reception I’d like to know if I’d still be charged 110 baht for snacks I’d eaten. The mother was again incredibly rude, dismissive, refused, didn’t apologise and blamed me. I showed her the Thai texts I’d sent the night before, but she stayed rude. I feel sorry for the daughter; she must be embarrassed that her parents run it like this. I don’t recommend it. It doesn’t take much to be kind, and this woman clearly doesn’t know how.
The lady at the front was friendly and even refunded us for the nights we didn’t stay. The male staff at the entrance was rude, the rooms smelled awful, my family had to leave Thailand early because of it, bugs were everywhere and the rooms were unclean.
The grandmother checked in with a teenage girl at checkout and the service was good. The staff seemed maybe from Myanmar, no smile at all. At checkout I was stopped at the exit door, asked “out?” and it sounded like it wasn’t a Thai person. The key was handed over in a confusing way. The room smelled very damp, the shower barely ran, the water pressure was much stronger at the sink, the AC was not cool, I sweated through the night, and the mattress was very hard.
The staff were good and the owner is kind. There aren’t many amenities; there’s no kettle in the room, but there is a common area. Toothbrushes and toothpaste aren’t provided, and the soap comes in small blocks.
The room was spacious and had all the utensils. I only stayed one night because I missed my bus. I found hair that wasn’t mine in the room and the biggest issue was cockroaches.
