I booked a room without a bathroom and was able to switch to one with a private bathroom; owner Boubacar makes everything easy. Moving around requires a taxi, and if you don’t speak French it’s tricky.

The vibe, the staff, the way the hotel is decorated and arranged, and the mattress!

I arrived in the middle of the night and the staff greeted me warmly; the room was spotless and I could see the beach from my window.

The staff were friendly and the vibe was welcoming, making it a great spot for solo travelers to meet people. However, my room had dust and a cockroach, the bathroom was often dirty, it was located outside with stairs that made it uncomfortable, and the room itself was noisy.

I spent nine weeks at Fadidi House under a work grant to study French, Wolof, and Senegalese culture, and I’m thrilled I chose it. It’s ideal for solo female travelers seeking a host‑family feel with privacy. Boucar and Jess truly embody teranga, going above and beyond to help guests enjoy Senegal. Fatou’s cooking classes were unique and thorough, and I took several, becoming a highlight of my stay. Even though I had formal language lessons, I learned most of my Wolof from Ibrahima, who was patient and encouraging. Fadidi House made my time in Dakar special; I left feeling part of the family and having met my language and cultural goals. I’m grateful for my stay and would definitely recommend Fadidi House to anyone wanting a welcoming, personal experience in Dakar.
