The central spot is convenient, with a few small sari shops and eateries nearby, a short walk to the bus terminal and major shopping malls, plus cafés and restaurants and a variety of shops; locals are friendly and speak English. The only downside is that the TV was disconnected because of budget cuts, and tourism seems low at this time of year.

From the moment I opened the door, a damp stench hit me, and the room was filthy with mould everywhere, especially in the bathroom where the toilet wouldn’t flush. The TV was broken, supposedly because the hotel couldn’t afford a new one. The beds were covered in dirty bedding and the cupboards were falling apart. I was promised a refund by the receptionist, but no one ever replied to my messages, leaving me with nowhere to stay and forcing me to book elsewhere after a long journey. The photos posted online are clearly outdated, probably 20‑year‑old. Avoid this place entirely.

I paid for a stay but never actually checked in; we arrived from Incheon, Korea around 1:00 a.m., and the owner sent a message that I couldn’t read because I was still on the plane. I called early at about 6:00 a.m. to cancel so he could accommodate other guests. The place itself is not good. At least the taxi driver waited for us, otherwise we would have had to walk into a dark, secluded area that felt like a squatters’ zone—quite frightening. I shouldn’t have been charged for that. The experience was very bad for both my companion and me. The “Red Doorz” listings on your site need updating; they don’t match what’s actually available. Lodgings should be open 24/7; we were sent codes via email and the key was left in an envelope in the hallway. There should be 24/7 access, like at Stansted Lodge Elsenham. A lesson to learn and avoid.

The staff lady was very helpful and assisted us in any way she could. The bed foam had worn away, so we basically slept on a wooden frame.
