“Like Staying with a No-Drama Grandma”
Anne, who runs the B&B, is an absolute legend and a fascinating person. Staying at the Folly B&B feels like staying with your grandma—no family drama, just warmth. We enjoyed the garden view, chatting with Anne about her travels, and she even phoned us before arrival to check on our journey, give hot‑weather tips (no AC, which is fine), and offer to pick us up from the bus in Norwich or train in London to Beccles, then taxi. On our first evening she dropped us off in town for dinner. Anne genuinely cares about your life and is a great conversationalist. Breakfast was amazing, the bed was comfortable, and we felt instantly at home. It’s a super peaceful spot—no nighttime noise at all. The double room’s bed was cozy and we slept well. The bathroom layout matched the description: the double room has a separate bathroom across the hallway, and the single has an en‑suite shower. The double’s bathroom only has a shower over a bath, which is fine but worth knowing. It’s located at the end of the house, so you can hop in and out in PJs without worrying about waking Anne; her living area is separate. The only minor point: if you don’t have a car, walking into Bungay town centre is a bit of an adventure. The quickest route is a woodland trail—no problem for us, and we used a phone torch when returning in the dark. We’re from the countryside, so it didn’t bother us, but the map shows it’s about a 20‑minute walk via the woods, uphill from Bungay to Folly B&B.
