Located in Venice’s historic Cannaregio district, Hotel Ca’ Dogaressa sits 11 minutes from Santa Lucia train station and 200 m from the Guglie water‑bus stop. Guests enjoy free Wi‑Fi, a rooftop terrace, and air‑conditioned classic rooms with flat‑screen TVs, minibars, desks, and private bathrooms equipped with hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. The Gran Canal, Rialto Bridge, St Mark’s Square, and Doge’s Palace lie within a short walk.

Classic Venetian style, it feels very old‑world. The staff were absolutely incredible, even helping me arrange a special tour of the Grand Canal and a water‑taxi transfer to the airport. Check‑in takes place at another hotel 200 m away, which was efficient, but the service was outstanding.

The location by the canal is very nice. Check‑in happens at the Leonehotel right on the Guglie jetty; you receive a code to go to the booked hotel and then get the room key. The reception there is only staffed in the morning. The room was well equipped with a comfortable bed. Probably I got the worst room: it sat right next to the reception and had a double door. What bothered me was the darkness; there was a small window but the opposite building wall was only 1 m away, so daylight didn’t reach the room. I had to turn on the lights during the day. Worse, guests above me moved furniture all night and walked through the room, so I couldn’t sleep well. The voices were often loud. For the proud price of just under 150 € for a single room, this is unacceptable, sorry.

The location is fantastic in Cannaregio, a slightly quieter area in the (too) busy Venice. The décor is truly Venetian, classic. It was great that there was no noise at night. Good communication with the host, smooth check‑in, nice bed. The bathroom could use some adjustments! For example, a plaque that doesn’t flip over with one tube of toothpaste, and a shower curtain/shower wall would be nice. Now it was very wet in the bathroom after a shower. That was disappointing.
