We were looking for last‑minute accommodation and it was available. The room we stayed in was just for us. It was dirty, and the idea of leaving shoes at the entrance was very off‑target – the smell, more like a fetor, spread throughout the whole property. I understand we were at the end of the season, but the dirty windows and items left by previous guests definitely turned us off from using the amenities of the place. The accommodation is far from the center – there is a bus option, but the neighborhood is uninteresting.
“A little stay in Vilnius”
Very good value for money! Felt almost like a private apartment with shared facilities. The shower pressure is decent, toilets are clean and there’s no queue in the kitchen. If someone speaks out loud in a room, you won’t escape hearing others’ calls and chats.
It’s close to the city and I appreciated the privacy compared to a typical hostel. When I arrived, a strong odor lingered in the kitchen and the beds squeaked when I moved.
“Es sollte häufiger Sleeping Pods in Hostels geben.”
The idea of Sleeping Pods is convincing, you get privacy. A positive point is that you take off your shoes in the entrance area, and everyone respected that, so the communal area stayed clean and you could even move around in socks. The room was clean and secured with its own lock. The communal area had, among other things, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer, and there were coffee grounds and cups. Earplugs were provided, but I didn’t need them. The shower had a good spray and was clean. There were hooks for hanging clothes. The toilets were largely clean. The room window could be opened. There were ventilation ducts in every pod. Each pod had a chair, table, coat rack, and lamp. The decor in my room was appealing. Other guests seemed polite. At first glance the accommodation is very nice and located in a quiet area. There is a very good direct bus connection; in 10 minutes you’re for only one euro in the old town, tickets can be bought with an app. I find it quite positive not to live directly in the city. There is also a supermarket around the corner. I would have booked the single room if there had been a regular bed instead of a sleep sofa. Good value for money. The pods are separated from each other but stacked on top of each other in a space‑saving way, which makes sense and I find it generally okay, but the slatted bed frame creaked loudly with every movement, something that could be improved. The bunk beds, in my opinion, are meant for children; they are large enough, but the ladder to the upper bed is hard to climb, even when you’re slim and small like me. The shower curtains are too short, so the area in front of the shower gets wet. The water drained properly but pooled a bit. Especially one of the two showers had a lot of mold on the ceiling that needs to be removed. The door frames are rotting at the Bodensee and need to be replaced. The entrance area has an unpleasant smell and is full of a large wardrobe. When I left the room I saw a cockroach. The hallway of the accommodation is lined with a continuous thick coating that peels off at the edges, allowing dirt to accumulate there. In my opinion it should be fixed with strips. There was also dirt on the edges in the toilets. The windows could use a cleaning, even though they weren’t very dirty. If these points had been addressed, I would have given the top score.
“Demasiada humedad en las duchas . Moho.”
The bed area was clean and comfortable, with a weight, a chair, and a plug. Air flows through a vent pipe, and a curtain acts as a door separating it from the other beds. The other hostel guests are respectful and keep quiet at night, and it seems some stay there permanently. Although the hostel is on the outskirts, a bus stop is right next to it. The bathrooms were clean but very humid; the smell of dampness hit you like a basement in an abandoned house. There’s no ventilation, so mold easily forms on the ceiling, as seen in one shower where black mold was growing despite attempts to clean it. Without better ventilation, mold will persist. The bathrooms have sinks but no mirrors; mirrors are only in a row of sinks in the hallway next to the kitchen, so you might need a mirror to shave while someone else cooks nearby. Ventilation in the bathrooms and showers needs improvement, and mirrors should be installed in the bathrooms.
