We loved it here! A spacious room, lovely grounds, fantastic staff, and one block to the beach. It really doesn't get any better. This hotel's location saved us a rental car; everything in Carlsbad Village is walkable. Only suggestion: a hair dryer in the room would have been nice. Everything else was above and beyond!

Location is the best. Walking distance from the beach, shops and restaurants. The snack bar is nice. It is also convenient to have beach equipment available. The price has gone up substantially over the years. They use to have breakfast but COVId ruined that feature

The rooms were clean and spacious, and the grounds looked gorgeous; the location hit every need we had, so we walked everywhere in Carlsbad. On the downside, there was no blow dryer or microwave in the room, and a big “beetle” or roach wandered into our bathroom one night, which drove me mad because I had to kill it. I also didn’t like the mattress—it was too hard and bouncy.

The location was great, the grounds were pretty, it wasn’t too crowded, the bed was comfortable, and the front desk staff were friendly. It would be nice to have milk sold at the small store or provided in the morning for coffee, and the lack of side tables at the pool made it awkward to hold a book or drink.
