Lara was a real gem—always ready to help. The only downside is the hostel's location: either pay for daily parking if you drive, or walk a long way to the ferry.
“a única parte ruim é que fica em nova caraiva”
The room was cozy and spotless, but the hostel is on the opposite side of the river, so you have to cross it daily, which costs time and money.
“Não tem custo benefício”
The staff are friendly, but the price is way too high for a hostel. There's no breakfast or pool, and the rooms have few outlets, no wardrobes or clotheslines, and the women's bathroom leaks. The town often loses power with no generator at the hostel, and it's in New Caraiva with no nearby amenities, so you have to walk for the boat, and I also had a broken leg on the pull‑out bed.
The place is charming and the host is friendly, and the area is quiet and beautiful, just a short walk to the best beach. The AC was turned on without asking, and it left me feeling ill when I left.
My husband and I had a great stay—private room with a bathroom, comfy, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Breakfast was easy, and a nearby market had all our supplies. Even in peak season the night crossings were safe, and a taxi even suggested walking the short route to the hostel. Just bring mosquito repellent, as the area is full of bugs.
