“Exceptional hospitality, lovely hotel”
Lovely accommodation in Galle, with plenty of wildlife (chipmunks, peacocks, a family of monkeys) and supermarkets and a fruit market just up the road. I stayed here as a medical student doing my elective at Galle National Hospital, which is a 20‑25 minute walk away. My room was lovely, had AC, a double bed with a mosquito net, a desk and chair, a mini fridge, and a small balcony. A water dispenser for drinking water is also in the reception. The hospitality at Galle Camellia is unmatched. The host, Garmini, was incredibly kind and helpful, and gave me his WhatsApp number so I could contact him if needed. Breakfast or dinner can be ordered for a small charge – they cook incredible food, and I often got dinner for free, with small desserts as well. It’s a little off the beaten path, but very easy to get to Galle Central Bus station (next to Galle Fort) by bus or taxi. The only thing that could be improved is the cleaning of surfaces/floors in the room; I wiped them down when I arrived, but the bedsheets and towels were all fresh.
