The spot is tucked right in the middle of nature – a cute little hostel that feels hand‑made, with a tiny pool, a hammock, a workout area and an amazing view. Aleja was super friendly, full of good vibes, and she mentioned you can explore the nearby puddles and a trail to a waterfall (though the guide wasn’t there). You’ll need a bike or a car to get up the steep lane from the main road, and a decent jacket because it gets chilly.

The scenery in Samana is breathtaking – it feels like a hidden paradise that more people should discover. The only downside is that you only get a handful of days to soak it all in.

The trail down to the river was spectacular, we even took a dip and enjoyed gorgeous landscapes teeming with birds. Unfortunately, a night windstorm blew water into our room, which was a nasty surprise.

We arrived to find our reservation wasn’t ready and were told we couldn’t be accommodated, forcing a last‑minute hotel switch. Getting to the hostel is a hassle without a car, since public transport options are scarce.
