The area is seedy to start with. I arrived, tried ringing the bell, knocked on the door, and called several times—at least five of each method—and never got a response. I never got into the property! I asked for a refund and spoke with trailyard support staff, who said I had misclicked my stay date, which explained it. An inkeeper later tried to get me to rebook the correct night an hour after the fiasco, but I was already gone from the city. No refund came through despite my request. The people and the service—or lack thereof—were terrible.

The location is great and the vibe is incredible. The Bywater district is beautiful and eclectic, and the mid‑century modern look is cool. I had no real issues with the property except parking, but that’s just New Orleans all over.

The rooms were spacious and nice, very clean. The breakfast had few options. The shared bathroom was something I probably didn’t read about when booking. It was extremely cold upon arrival, with Siberia‑style air conditioning.

The rooms are comfortable. The pool and hot tub are a great place to relax and work on evening out your tan (clothing‑optional pool for the win). Depending on the day, the pool deck can be busy—just more people to chat with about what to see the next day. The staff are helpful and friendly, and I must commend them for not tolerating negative attitudes and behavior. The Bywater is a quieter neighborhood, so you can still get a good night’s sleep before heading out again! The Bywater is a little way outside the French Quarter. If you want to spend a lot of time around Canal and Bourbon, you’ll need to be prepared for rideshare or a nice walk along Crescent Park to get downtown. This isn’t a negative on the Railyard, just something to keep in mind. Some people find the occasional train a distraction, but I think it adds to the experience.
