It was a pleasant stay, we liked the breakfast, the pool was very cold, but there was a sauna so it was fine. I didn’t like the bar staff’s attitude, otherwise everything was good.

“Falta de manutenção”

The overall space is very pretty with several leisure areas. Breakfast had little variety but was good. The area is very quiet for resting. The spa area is good with Turkish bath, sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. For a 4‑star hotel, there is a lot of maintenance lacking. The room was damp, visible through the windows, the smell, and the peeling wallpaper. The bathroom sink was clogged so water took a long time to drain, the tub left everything flooded, and the shower support was stuck with a plastic clamp. There was a lack of lighting in the room, only lamps and a few bulbs. The air‑conditioner didn’t work, neither hot nor cold. In the spa, the indoor pool’s bottom canvas was peeling and looked dirty.

“Local bonito, falta atenção na zona do SPA”

I was just a 10/15‑minute walk from Chaves city centre, in a very quiet area that we really appreciated. The gardens are beautiful and well tended, and the main building stands out for its architectural beauty. The room and bathroom are in a separate building attached to the main one, clearly newer, and they offer comfortable and pleasant conditions. The terrace on the ground floor is spacious and very bright. Reception staff were friendly, quick and efficient. Parking inside the hotel is also a plus. The outdoor area is nice and the breakfast is served in a very pretty, well‑decorated space with good views and natural light. The food was good. We liked the little dog that roams around the property. The outdoor pool area needs some attention to detail. Some parts require maintenance and several hanging loungers are already tearing. We also found it odd to see the spa towels drying on a garden rack, visible to everyone, which clashes with the otherwise well‑kept gardens and beautiful building. The glass that separates the indoor from the outdoor pool is quite cloudy from halfway down, due to lime or water‑product residue, giving a less pleasant look. The spa was the biggest disappointment, especially since it was marketed as “luxurious”. In practice, during our stay we only had access to the indoor pool and two jacuzzis. Around 10:30 am the sauna and Turkish bath were off or not working, further limiting the experience. There is also a situation in the pool that the hotel should review. Those who enter the pool via the front stairs, about a meter before the end, encounter a stone structure submerged a few centimeters below the surface, like a submerged bench spanning the entire width of the pool. From the pool’s perspective it seems to continue normally to the bottom, but from the angle of someone swimming toward it, the structure is almost invisible. My companion hit her chin/mouth, cut her lip, and we had to ask for ice at the bar when the bleeding stopped. Thankfully she didn’t need stitches or lose a tooth. She also got a silver bracelet caught at the stone junction and broke it when pulling it out. The situation was surreal. The structure itself shows visible gaps (where the bracelet got caught) between the stones and remnants of a brown adhesive, giving the impression that there might have been some coating before. It makes no sense to have that trap there, especially with so much chlorine making it hard to open your eyes even out of the water.
