The property was very nice and in a great location. The rooms were spotless and the staff treated you kindly.
“Decent 1-night stay at a rustic no glitz hotel. What I expected.”
I stayed right in the heart of Waterville, close to everything, and the breakfast offered homemade dishes that gave the place a nice rustic vibe. It was cheaper than every other lodging in town except one. The rooms felt a bit dated and worn, and I had to hang the shower curtain on the rod because it had been left on the dresser.
“Would never stay again and advise others not to as well.”
I’m trying to keep this brief: the rooms were outdated and unimpressive, with a stinky mini‑fridge and only about 2 Tbsp of shampoo for the shower, which left me itchy and wondering if there were bed bugs—there were a couple of welts on my arms the next morning, though I’ve never had a bed‑bug issue before. The lobby “store” had no chocolate or Diet Coke, only an RC Cola that seemed to have been stocked from 1957. When I tried to buy something at 9:55 pm the front‑desk clerk refused to sell it (I think it was water) and claimed the desk closed at 10 pm but could close the store earlier. The first morning we were woken by an employee announcing a gas leak and evacuation. The key was a keypad that didn’t work reliably, requiring 3–4 attempts each time and two trips to the front desk. The entire hotel was freezing because all doors were open to vent the gas all day, and eventually there was no hot water. They moved us to a neighboring hotel, but when I mentioned that my room rate included breakfast, the staff had no idea what to do. They couldn’t point me to a nearby breakfast spot, so we drove 25 miles round‑trip and spent $65 on breakfast, only to find later that the adjacent hotel offered a free breakfast buffet and a restaurant in the town square behind us served breakfast. I won’t be returning. I still haven’t heard back from the hotel.
“We enjoyed our stay, loved the freedom passes”
Breakfast was great—just wish it had opened before 7 am since we needed to be ready and out to the festival to dance by 8:15. The only downside was the early opening time.
After 10 pm there was no one at reception, and a rowdy group of youth hockey players and their families kept us up with their loud, disrespectful behavior until midnight every night. No staff was available to handle the situation.
