Everything was clean, calm, and well kept. The host’s hospitality—especially with water, chilled drinks, and coffee/tea—could use improvement.

The bathtub was not the “spa bath” one had imagined; it leaked into the floor below. The entire room seemed poorly maintained, with loose screws, nuts, bolts, and other hardware scattered in various drawers.

The accommodation was superb and quiet, staff were very friendly, the room felt warm, and there was no odor. The location was great, but I almost missed it until I looked closely at the door numbers; I didn’t see a description of River Haven Edinburgh on the door or wall, though it might be there and I just didn’t notice. I found a bug on the floor and had to put the bin on it—pest control would be best. The bathroom window frightened me because it was slightly open, as if it might fall, so I asked the staff to close it. One of the containers on the bathroom sink had no label, which should be fixed.

The only redeeming factor was the location, and the access was very practical. The garden view made for a calm night, though the camping cot masquerading as a bed was uncomfortable. We feel cheated—extremely poor value! A camping cot for the third adult in the party, yet full price was charged. Additionally, bugs emerged from the drain (cockroaches?)—definitely not expected.
