I got bumped up from a dorm to a double room at the same dorm price because the dorm wasn’t ready for guests, but I didn’t receive the free breakfast that came with my booking since they don’t offer breakfast in low season. I thought the upgrade was a fair trade‑off. The room was big, clean, and comfortable, and the housekeeping woman was very nice and cleaned as often as I asked. The pool was great. Across the street there’s a café/banh mi stand and a moto rental run by a wonderful family; the young lady making the banh mi was extra sweet and it was her new business, so I was her first customer and her food was delicious. Motos cost 150k and were good quality. The place is about a 10‑minute walk or short scooter ride away. In low season the beach is murky, but I still saw nice sunsets, and it’s a very nice beach in high season. The best low‑season beach, Khem, was about a 35‑minute ride, most of which was easy except for some construction. Avoid the road that passes by the airport and the one that goes all the way south because of major construction projects; it’s not an easy ride. If you take the road that crosses the island between the hotel and the airport, it’s much better, though there are still some semi‑difficult parts. There are many food options near the hotel, some local supermarkets too—though King Kong is a 20‑minute walk. There are also nice dogs and cats that generally stay in the lobby area. The owners kept to themselves and didn’t offer any tips, but they were okay.
