The whole place was spotless, I was really impressed.
The owner was amazing, speaking great English and making us feel welcome.
The location is surrounded by nature and is really quiet - stepping outside in the morning was refreshing.

“ゆっくりと癒し”
The meals had a wide variety and were tasty.
“猫ちゃん”
The cats and dogs were happily roaming around.
“食事も大方満足だったし、部屋は清潔で良かった。”
The cleaning was thorough and the room felt cozy, and the food was fairly decent; the only issue was that the sign indicating the women’s shared bath was left on for a long time after the men had finished cleaning, so I couldn’t use it before bedtime.
“スタッフの皆さんが親切”
The staff were kind, diligent, and left a good impression.
“リトリートの旅に最適!”
Overall the rustic charm was appealing, the open‑air bath was lukewarm (as the spring water naturally is) but you could stay in it for a while while watching the mountain view, the meals were small‑portioned yet varied and tasty, and the staff were very friendly; the cats and dogs that roam freely were adorable and made me want to return. On the downside, the windows in the rooms and corridors can’t be opened because insects get in, which was disappointing, and although the inn sits at the foot of the mountain beside a river and I’d have liked to enjoy Tochigi’s fresh air inside, I had to go outside for a walk; the lounge near reception lets you spend time with the cats, but there was a faint pet‑toilet smell that could have been mitigated by better ventilation, though I understand it may be hard to fix.
