Lions Place, nestled within Grietjie Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, features a viewing tower and upper deck for unobstructed bush views and game spotting at the waterhole. The location was unique, right in the middle of the Grietjie reserve, without any fencing, so you’re really among the wildlife. The owner (JB) is extremely passionate, supported by a fantastic team of three African women. There are elephants in the garden, and the owner offers game drives, sharing a lot of knowledge about nature and taking the time to explain things.

We had a wonderful stay at this lodge. The welcome was truly warm and the whole team was adorable. The meals were delicious, generous, and made with great care. The safaris with our guide were also a real highlight; he knows a lot about the animals and taught us much throughout the outings. We were lucky to see many animals. A special touch that touched us deeply was the team taking the time to celebrate a birthday with cake and champagne! The lodge is very comfortable, with a nice pool and a pleasant view to enjoy the scenery. The team was also very accommodating for our departure and did everything to make it easier for us. A beautiful experience that we recommend without hesitation.

We only stayed two nights in this truly tiny paradise, but the welcome was incredibly warm from the moment we arrived. The family suite, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, featured excellent beds and each room had its own bathroom. Everything was spotless. From the terrace we could see the pond, full of water lilies that also serve as a watering spot for various animals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were fantastic, and the kitchen even accommodated our daughter's vegetarian diet. Kudos again to the kitchen. JB impressed us with his deep knowledge of wildlife and flora and fauna, always answering every question. We saw so much and left with unforgettable impressions. We wholeheartedly recommend Lions Place and definitely want to stay longer next time.

The accommodation was a dream, and the unparalleled service makes Lions Place a highlight. J.P. is the best ranger imaginable, and his passion for all kinds of animals sets a standard for other rangers. The food was a dream; J.P. and his team fulfilled every wish and set a high bar for half‑board that will be hard to surpass in the future.

The lodge blends perfectly into the landscape and is built with many natural materials; the pool and especially the pond just outside the pool area are beautiful and attract a lot of wildlife. JB, the owner and guide, cares for guests 24/7 and isn’t afraid to spend eight hours a day on the jeep with you. Hannah, Mavis, and Pretty keep the house perfectly prepared and cook amazing French‑African crossover menus.
