“A few grumbles”

The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel sat just a two‑minute walk from bars and restaurants in the old town. However, there were a few grumbles: the ceiling over the shower in room 12 was damaged and falling in, the room was damp and had no heating so it felt very cold, and I was concerned about fire safety because there was no easy exit. The breakfast needed more cutlery, bowls, and spoons; it was hit and miss—terrible on the first day but much better on the second.

All the staff were excellent, helpful and kind. The room was clean and comfortable. Very quiet, thank goodness! The shock on entering the hotel. Nowhere on the description did it mention that the hotel is a venue for local nightlife, which would have meant I wouldn’t have booked a room. We’re in our 70s and used to a quieter stay! Breakfast was also disappointing. The continental part, which I prefer, arrived as we were leaving, having eaten a fried breakfast as there was little option! I have a suggestion for the bathroom. A couple of handles for getting in and out of the bath to use the shower would be safer!
